Shanika’s Apprenticeship: Shanika supports the Programs team’s ongoing initiatives to engage women of color entrepreneurs in the social sector through database creation and event planning & execution.

Background: As a second year Public Ally, Shanika aims to bring a heightened focus on community engagement to the Programs Team. She joins Baltimore Corps with a diverse range of experiences; in customer service and retail merchandising, in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and in Early Childhood Education as a Head Start teacher aide. Shanika’s experiences working with young children and her belief that hardships and pain have intergenerational impacts on families inspired her to open her own non-profit for young women that focuses on breaking generational curses. Shanika’s experiences have provided her with a breadth of knowledge that she brings to the Programs Team on how to successfully run a business offering multiple programs.
