Nigel-Ray Garcia, Deputy Director, Community Engagement and Advocacy
As the Deputy Director, Community Engagement and Advocacy, Nigel helps to execute a comprehensive recruitment strategy attaining a diverse quality pipeline of talent for all Baltimore Corps programs and initiatives. Nigel plays an integral role in developing collaborative relationships with leaders in the community and across a broad range of interest groups in Baltimore City to further Baltimore Corps’ mission and vision.
Nigel earned his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Saint Bonaventure University. Nigel started his career in the private sector refining his marketing, client, and customer relationship management skills. Fourteen years ago, he moved to Baltimore, where he has since devoted his efforts to working alongside the many champions of Baltimore City to advance public health, economic development, and social justice initiatives. Nigel uses his skills at Baltimore Corps to build and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders while managing complex, equity-driven projects. His working style is grounded in servant, transformational, and authentic frameworks, ensuring his teammates and network feel supported and empowered during challenging times.
Outside of his professional work, Nigel served on the boards of several nonprofits that focused on arts education and community performance venues. When not engaged in work, he enjoys exploring Baltimore’s vibrant art scene and finding peace in nature.
