Champions are the many organizations and individuals who have contributed their time, resources and ideas to support Baltimore Corps. We are very fortunate to have far too many Champions to list here. Please keep your eyes peeled in the next few months as we hope to roll out new opportunities for individuals to get involved. Below are some of our biggest and most persistent Champions, whose leadership and generosity have made our work possible.

Aaron Straus and Lillie Straus Foundation - The Straus Foundation is dedicated to providing children protection, education and opportunity. A longtime champion of national service, The Straus Foundation is a founding partner of Baltimore Corps, supporting our organization with strategic counsel, infrastructure and our first seed grant in 2013. Our current Fellow placements at the Baltimore City Health Department were made possible by the generosity of the Straus Foundation.

Abell Foundation - The Abell Foundation is dedicated to the enhancement of the quality of life in Maryland, with a particular focus on Baltimore. The foundation places a strong emphasis on opening the doors of opportunity to the disenfranchised, believing that no community can thrive if those who live on its margins are not included. Thanks to the Abell Foundation’s grant to Baltimore Corps in January 2015, we have been able to build the capacity to expand from 10 to 30 Fellows in our second Program Year.

A.L. Mailman Family Foundation - The A.L. Mailman Family Foundation focuses on improving the systems and policies that impact very young children and their families. The foundation's quest is to make quality early experiences the norm, so that all children are primed for success—and has provided great support for Baltimore Corps’ efforts in education and early-childhood literacy. 

Annie E. Casey Foundation - The Annie E. Casey Foundation is devoted to developing a brighter future for millions of children at risk of poor educational, economic, social and health outcomes. Baltimore Corps and The Casey Foundation have collaborated to create the groundbreaking Baltimore Corps Fellow Development Program based on the Casey Foundation’s results-based leadership competencies.

Aspen Institute/Franklin Project - The Franklin Project is a national effort to strengthen citizenship by providing each young American the opportunity to pursue a year of service. The Franklin Project supports young Americans ages 18 and 28, to pursue a fully paid, full-time year of service in one of an array of areas, including conservation and education. The Franklin Project collaborates with Baltimore Corps to amplify and celebrate the organization’s impact nationwide.

Barbara Shapiro - Barbara Shapiro is a fierce champion of retaining talent to drive impact in Baltimore City. An early champion of Baltimore Corps, Barbara is passionate about investing in Baltimore’s next generation of leadership.

BMe Community - BMe Community is a real-world social network for building more caring and prosperous communities inspired by Black men. These men lead in matters such as economic opportunity, violence prevention, youth development, re-entry for the formerly incarcerated, small business development and the environment. BMe invites people of all backgrounds, races, and genders to work together with us to build more prosperous communities. BMe collaborates with Baltimore Corps to connect its Fellows to a network of leaders passionate about strong urban communities.

de Beaumont Foundation - The de Beaumont Foundation believes that a strong public health system is essential and works to transform the practice of public health through strategic and engaged grantmaking. The de Beaumont Foundation has been instrumental in sponsoring our Fellows at the Baltimore City Health Department.

Echoing Green - Echoing Green provides seed funding to social entrepreneurs launching bold new organizations to generate positive systemic change. Echoing Green believes investing in and supporting the right people, equipped with the right ideas and ability to execute, rather than specific business plans, results in a lifetime of leadership. Echoing Green has invested over $36 million in seed-stage funding and strategic assistance in more than 600 world-class leaders driving positive social change in over sixty countries. Echoing Green Fellows include the founders of Teach For America, City Year, College Summit, Citizen Schools, One Acre Fund, and SKS Microfinance. As a core supporter Baltimore Corps, Echoing Green brings sector-leading expertise and support to Baltimore Corps.

Goldseker Foundation - The Goldseker Foundation has granted $86 million to more than 530 nonprofit organizations and projects in the Baltimore metropolitan area.  The Goldseker Foundation serves the Baltimore community by investing in its institutions and people. Baltimore Corps is excited to partner with The Goldseker Foundation to plan and invest in strategic growth opportunities.

Maryland Unites - Maryland Unites supports the Baltimore Corps Fellows at the Baltimore City Health Department where they working to address underlying health disparities in Baltimore City.  

OneMain Financial - More than one million people count on OneMain Financial for the money they need, when they need it. They provide personal loan solutions serviced locally at neighborhood branches and proudly support local activities and events that bring communities together. OneMain Financial has provided Baltimore Corps with core operating support.

Robert E. Meyerhoff and Rheda Becker - For over 40 years, Robert E. Meyerhoff and Rheda Becker have supported transformative organizations and ideas in Baltimore, with a particular focus on education and the arts. Baltimore Corps is grateful for their generous support of our core operations.

Strong City Baltimore - Formerly Greater Homewood Community Corporation, Strong City Baltimore is dedicated to building and strengthening vibrant urban communities and work centers through ensuring safe streets, quality housing stock, strong public schools, and livability.  A center of community engagement, Strong City Baltimore is the fiscal sponsor of Baltimore Corps, supporting and guiding our organization since its founding in 2013.

Sylvan/Laureate Foundation - The Sylvan Laureate Foundation has invested over USD $20 million in more than 100 nonprofit organizations that promote education, youth leadership, global citizenship, economic opportunity and the arts around the world.  Baltimore Corps is excited to partner with the Sylvan Laureate Foundation to catalyze its high-impact corporate volunteerism initiative.
